🏅 How Rankings Are Calculated

Every correct pick = 1 point (+1); a wrong pick = 0. On a tie, the more accurate player ranks higher, then whoever joined earlier. Full details with examples below.

1. Points

Each correct prediction = 1 point (+1). A wrong prediction = 0. During a live match your point shows provisionally based on the current score and locks in at the final whistle — upcoming matches never count.

Example — Salem's picks
MatchYour pickResultPoints
Al Hilal vs Al NassrAl Hilal win+1
Barcelona vs Real MadridDraw0
Al Ittihad vs Al AhliAl Ittihad win+1
Liverpool vs ArsenalLiverpool win+1
Total3

Salem got 3 of 4 right → 3 points.

2. Breaking ties

Points come first. When players have the same points, we rank them by this order:

  1. 1Points — correct predictions
  2. 2Accuracy — for equal points, fewer predictions ranks higher (i.e. the most accurate)
  3. 3Seniority — the earlier-joined player

Example — accuracy breaks the tie

PlayerPointsPredictedAccuracyRank
Abdullah61346%🥇
Fahad61443%🥈
Noura61638%🥉

All three have 6 points, but Abdullah is the most accurate (6 of 13 = 46%) so he leads — even though he predicted fewer matches. Lots of wrong predictions won't lift you.

Example — at zero points

PlayerPointsPredictedRank
Majed04🥇
Reem09🥈

The same rule holds even at zero points: Majed predicted 4 (4 wrong) and Reem predicted 9 (9 wrong), so Majed ranks higher — fewer wrong picks. And if everything is equal, the earlier-joined player wins.

3. Rankings live in your group

4. Group standing

experimental

This is completely separate from your in-group leaderboard. Inside your group, scoring stays simple: each correct pick = 1 point, full stop. The «Group standing» compares your whole crew against every other group by prediction skill — a new experimental feature.

The idea: beat the crowd, not just be right

Every match gets a difficulty from the crowd itself: what fraction of all predictors got it right? We call it p. If 85% got it, it was easy. If only 25% did, it was an upset.

Correct ⟵ you earn (1 − p): nail the upset nobody saw = big points; pick the obvious favorite = almost nothing.
Wrong ⟵ you lose p: whiff on the obvious one = big loss; miss a coin-flip = small loss.

This means you can't farm an easy league — easy picks are worth ~zero. And copying the favorite gets you nowhere — you only gain by out-predicting the crowd. That's also why the number of leagues doesn't matter: each group is judged on its own matches versus the crowd on those same matches.

Group size doesn't matter

We pool all members' picks and take the average skill, so a sharp 2-person group can outrank a 20-person one. To stop a group topping the table on a lucky 2-for-2, we «shrink» the score by how many predictions back it: the more you predict, the more your rank is trusted. It takes real, sustained skill — not a fluke.

Unlocking your banner

Your standing appears once your group has at least 2 members and 20 settled predictions. Before that you see a progress bar. Cross it and you earn your rank «banner» (#N of M groups) to share on Snap or X and challenge others.

Moves with every goal

During matches we compute the standing live off the current score — a single goal can shift your group's rank. The in-play rank is provisional and locks in at full time.

Everything updates automatically after each match.
